Companies selected for the 2012 “Cool Vendors” in Supply Chain Management report are innovative and impactful.

Alameda, CA - April 10, 2012 – PINC Solutions, the leading provider of advanced yard management systems (YMS) today announced that the company has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the Supply Chain Management report by Gartner, Inc.

According to the March 26, 2012 report, this year’s “Cool Vendors”  prove once again that, although aspects of the SCM technology market are mature, innovation continues as companies look for capabilities that make them more competitive or improve their operating metrics.

Traditionally, yard management has been looked at as a means to manage the life-cycle of a trailer and its shipment within a given facility. PINC’s Advanced-YMS extends this view to the supply chain network, and enables trading partners to manage the life-cycle of a shipment and a trailer across multiple facilities and across corporate boundaries. By sharing real-time, accurate, and actionable shipment and trailer status information, PINC’s customers reduce the idle time that trailers (loaded or empty) and drivers spend inside their facilities. As a result, they significantly reduce their transportation, operations, and inventory carrying costs.

“Recognition comes with hard work and strong customer success stories,” said Ken Colby, CEO of PINC Solutions.  “We believe our inclusion in the Cool Vendor report by Gartner affirms our mission to enable enterprises to reduce operational costs, increase supply chain efficiencies, and gain competitiveadvantage.”

Leading Business Magazine for the Food and Grocery Industry Segments Releases Annual Listing of Top Software and Technology Providers.

Alameda, CA — January 17, 2012 — Food Logistics, the only publication dedicated exclusively to the grocery and foodservice distribution supply chain, last month announced the eighth-annual listing of the FL100. Food Logistics Magazine selected PINC Solutions as a top 100 software and technology provider for the fourth consecutive year.

Each year, the editors of Food Logistics recognize 100 software and technology providers that better enable grocery and foodservice distributors and manufacturers to realize their business goals. In 2011, the publication focused on solution providers that are helping their customers differentiate themselves in the marketplace, while simultaneously facilitating improved safety and traceability throughout the supply chain.

“With the passage of the FDA’s landmark Food Safety and Modernization Act, the entire food and beverage sector is under increased pressure to improve safety and traceability throughout the supply chain. In addition, the ongoing globalization of food supply chains demands closer collaboration with suppliers and enhanced visibility from farm to fork,” notes Lara L. Sowinski, editor-in-chief at Food Logistics. “Technology is a powerful tool that can ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and serve as a market differentiator in today’s highly competitive environment.”

“We would like to thank our customers for this recognition,” commented Ken Colby, PINC Solutions’ CEO. “Food safety and security has been a recurring agenda item for government regulators trying to build greater transparency and accountability into an increasingly global supply chain. As companies source and transport food products from farther afield the potential for contamination, security breaches, and shrinkage increases. As a consequence, our customers, such as Kraft Foods and Nestle, are becoming much more vigilant about how they track and monitor assets – especially in the yards.“

Dr. Aleks Gollu, PINC Solutions' CTO and founder is interviewed by DC Velocity magazine

"Looking to bring order to a chaotic freight yard? There's an app for that.
The yard of a large and busy distribution operation may seem a chaotic place, with trucks entering and leaving, yard jockeys whisking trailers to and from dock doors, and all of it happening rapidly and with virtually no break in the action."

"Gollu adds that yard management systems also allow users to collaborate across organizations in an effort to improve inventory management. For example, he says, when a food manufacturer ships to a grocer's DC, a typical move includes substantial idle time. "If a trailer is idling for 12 to 14 hours at the source and the same at the destination, that's a day's worth of inventory we could take out," he argues."
